Make a kids’ geography craft for Finland with instructions and a pattern for a sparkly reindeer.  Originally created for the Around the World, Year 1 lesson on Finland, the craft includes a short introduction to the theme, followed by craft instructions with photos and a printable pattern.

It’s so easy!  Copy the reindeer pattern on colored paper, cut, paint, and decorate.  You will need brown & blue colored paper, sequins, googly eyes, paint, and Q-tips to paint with.  And normal craft supplies like crayons, scissors, and glue.

Use the map to teach continents and oceans, and any other basic map concept.  This is also a great tool to play geography games.

Print as many spinners as you want on plain white paper or white card stock.  After kids color both circles, assembly into a finished Continent Spinner is fast & easy.

The only supplies you need are paper, scissors, crayons, and a paper fastener.

If you don’t have any paper fasteners (AKA brads) to attach the 2 pieces together, alternate instructions for substituting a paper clip are included.

This craft is straightforward and simple.  Best of all, it needs only light cardboard (a cereal box is perfect!), some 1/2″ craft ribbon, and scissors, glue, and tape.  The downloadable, PDF eBook includes some background on medieval triptychs, complete craft instructions with pictures, and the 3 printables needed to complete the project.

This craft works well in either a homeschool setting of only a few students or a classroom of many students.

Note:  You will want to print the artwork in color.  The other 2 patterns are fine in black & white.

Print the prepared pages, grab a file folder, scissors, a pen/pencil, & glue, and you’re all set. Your child(ren) will read the information needed for each mini-booklet and then put them together, decorating and embellishing as he or she wants. *A color printer is recommended for best results.

The lapbook has 7 unique booklets of different shapes and sizes on medieval times:

• First, your child reads about a knight and his armor, and then creates the Armor Trifold.

• Then, read more about the feudal system and make a tabbed mini-book, filling in the pages with information about kings, nobles, knights, & peasants. The younger kids have the option to cut out the information and glue it in, while the older kids have lined blanks to fill in themselves.

• The Feudal Hierarchy Triangle is a colorful visual of the feudal system to make next.

• Large, color pictures illustrate the reading on the medieval manor, followed by that booklet.

• Then comes the Social Classes Octagon, illustrating the medieval society of “those who fight,” “those who pray,” and “those who work.”

• Lastly comes paragraphs telling what kinds of things people ate and drank in the Middle Ages, with a tabbed column booklet to fill in & put together.

When all is said and done, your child’s lapbook will look something like this. Of course, how they arrange their mini-booklets in this space and how they decorate everything will make it all their own.

With our How to Make a Double Crown of Eygpt eBook, you can download complete patterns & instructions to make this simple project. This craft is easy enough for the younger elementary child, but significant enough for an older elementary child to enjoy it as well.

You will need colored paper, scissors, glue, and tape, as well as a gold (or yellow) chenille stem (also called pipe cleaners!).

The white part of the crown is best made with heavy, white cardstock, but you can use white colored paper, too. If you want to use cardstock and don’t have it, you don’t have to buy a ream. Just pop in to your local copy center and ask for a few sheets. They should be very accommodating!

The craft is simple enough for a large classroom, as well as a homeschool group of just a few. Either way, it’s just plain fun!
